Mentoring Program – FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

1.       How are Mentees assigned to Mentors?

Currently, we match one Mentee with one Mentor. Mentees/Mentors are matched and vetted by our board based on commonalities and shared interests identified in the supplemental information submitted by Mentees.

2.       How long does a mentoring session last?

Mentoring session frequency and format (email, phone, etc…) would be determined by the Mentor and Mentee. For example, these could be quarterly or monthly, by email/phone, or in person if the Mentor and Mentee live close to each other. We will provide suggestions; however, at the end of the day, it is up to each Mentor and Mentee to see what relationship works best for them.

3.       What kind of follow-up is required after a mentoring session is completed?

Our team will check in quarterly to see how the Mentor/Mentee assignment and relationship is progressing. Mentees are expected to take an active role in asking questions, seeking advice, and following up with their Mentors.

4.       What kind of commitments are expected from both the Mentee and Mentor?

As each Mentor/Mentee relationship is unique and will provide a varied dynamic of experiences among different pairings, we believe the commitments and expectations should be set at the individual level.

5.       Is there any reporting required?

There is no formal reporting. We will simply check in with each Mentor/Mentee to ensure the program is working and to gather any suggestions so we can continue building and enhancing the program.
